Juve’s Poulsen may be Anfield bound

Liverpool have contacted Juventus regarding the possible transfer of midfielder Christian Poulsen.

Danish international Poulsen moved to Juventus from Sevilla for 9 million Euros last year, but the Italian outfit seem set to let him leave this summer after the arrival of Felipe Melo from Fiorentina.

Liverpool are undoubtedly searching for a replacement for Xabi Alonso, whose move to Real Madrid has been confirmed pending a medical, and while reports suggested Alberto Aquilani had been lined up, Sky Sports News today claimed that the Reds have contacted Juventus with regards to Poulsen.

Liverpool have also been linked with highly rated Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour as an Alonso replacement, but with Poulsen's name entering the fray it remains to be seen whether that move will go through.

Fulham and Everton have also been identified as prospective buyers for the 29-year-old, but Liverpool will certainly be favourites to snap up the Dane if he does move to the Premier League.
